moving right along!

Last night was the Gallery walk. The weather was warm but clear. Attendance was modest with about 200 people coming to the gallery between six and nine p.m. I was very blessed last night there is a lot of interest in my work. Lots and lots of questions, and an opportunity to share.

Gallery walks for me are generally a lot of work, but also very rewarding. It is an opportunity for me to get out of the studio, take a deep breath of air, and have the opportunity to chat with some people. If I’m lucky, a few friends may drop in. Sometimes being in a situation where I need to talk about my work tends to give me more clarity. I have to think about what I’m doing, why I am doing it, and where all of this is leading. It’s the realization that there is an awful lot of work, an awful lot of effort, and an awful lot of support from so many people.

If there is ever any doubt it is worth the effort, it comes down to the bottom line. The bottom line being I can’t stop! These thoughts roll around in your head and you can only suppress them for so long, then they have to be dealt with.

On going, or so it seems

June 20, 2008

Life has a way of turning on a dime. There have been some major upheavals in my life and they are going to continue on for a bit as I get prepared for another summer of travel.

In the studio today I was lamenting the loose ends that just didn’t want to work out. Always a challenge at this time of year.

I received a phone call today from one of the accounts I’ve been trying to work on for quite a while. I have wanted to teach an art marketing class there for a considerable amount of time, but, no one seemed to be much interested. Well, as life would have it, I got a phone call today wanting to set up a class for next winter. Not only was it a wonderful experience it also helps me to flush out my schedule for next winter.

Still working on some venues to teach at a during the fall, and trying to finalize all the dates.

Also of some interest to me is a young Australian Artist who is residing in Norway. He is charming, a delight to watch and has some innovative and exciting ways of working. We have had a couple of e-mails and he is eqaully as charming via e-mail. I find him to have incredible energy and a winning personality. I have put a link to his website in the “links” section of this website. Over and above that, you gotta appreciate anyone who has the courage to be video taped working in his undies and then posting it to the internet for all to see. Made me giggle so hard I about fell over. We have all done it at one time or another.

Overall it’s been a wonderful day.
