on the road, the final month

My time on the road is about over. It has been a summer of great visual merit and study along with the visits of friends and acquaintances. My biggest disappointment was not being able to meet Eric, aka Pagan Artist from You Tube. We had hoped to meet in September but his schedule got so out of hand it made it impossible. Add to that my schedule and it got seriously out of hand. I am hoping we have a chance to meet next year when I am in the Springfield area again.

Since Springfield I have been to the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area. I had hoped to stop in and see the folks at the soon to be opened Focal Point Gallery but we could never connect. While I have a few concerns about the gallery opening I am trying to maintain a positive and supportive attitude about the business and management. I do hope this a success for Melodi and her business partners.

Since then I have been able to rest a bit and spend some time in Aiken SC with some friends. On Monday I head to Charleston where I will stay for about three weeks before heading home for the winter season of painting, teaching and shows. Last year I had a demo in Summerville SC on paint skins and taught a concentrated class on art marketing . They had requested I come back this year to teach a class on acrylic painting but it somehow never came about, a bit of a disappointment to me but life serves up that dish now and again. Maybe something will come along next year.

I am anticipating a great winter of painting and gardening. Oh how I have missed my garden this year. I can only hope there is something left of it. It has been neglected for nearly 5 months and that can devastate a garden. My hope is that all is well, a bit of a weed issue that can be taken care of in short order, and that my fig tree made it over the summer. Nothing would please me more than to get home to find my fig tree had born fruit and flourished in my absence. My sister says the orchids are doing well and growing along with a profusion of blooms, always a good sign. One of the winter projects is to build a hanging wall for the orchids where I can display, care and grow these gems. Thinking about building a pergola to help cut the sun a bit and allow better growing conditions.
